We're seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Principal Engineer with a strong background in full stack development, specifically Java/Spring Boot BE, JS/TS BE & FE. Python skills are a big plus.
If you're passionate about coding and have expertise in Kafka, Microservice architectures and cloud based (preferably AWS) solutions, this is your opportunity to drive the evolution of our platform in line with our 3 year product strategy.
You will work on PoC development and coding/building of the preferred solutions with a focus on implementing robust authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms to ensure our systems are secure and compliant.
You'll leverage cutting-edge technologies and work alongside cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, resilient and innovative solutions that address the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Join us for a career-defining opportunity to be at the forefront of CES’s future growth.Ideally looking for a Feb/March 2025 start, so don't delay!
What You’ll Do:
Technical consultancy: Work closely with the architecture and project team to deliver Java/Spring Boot + JS/TS/Python PoC's hands-on, and be part of the build of preferred solutions for the CES platform.
Microservices Architecture: Build on and implement robust, event-driven microservices using Java, Kafka, and modern frameworks.
Event-Driven Systems: Drive the adoption and optimization of pub/sub and messaging systems to enable real-time, scalable applications.
Collaboration: Partner with Product, Architecture, Engineering, and Design teams to deliver innovative technical solutions that meet business goals.
Standards & Best Practices: Establish best practices in secure coding, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
Mentor and Inspire: Foster a culture of continuous learning by mentoring engineers and sharing knowledge across squads.

About You
You’re a visionary engineer who loves hands-on coding (you're currently coding 50% of your time or more!), and thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. You combine deep technical expertise with a passion for delivering impact and mentoring others.
Key Skills and Experience:
Extensive Back-end Experience and Qualifications, with recent Front-End expertise: Principal or Staff Engineer experience, with 7+ years’ experience in Java and Spring Boot(still hands-on with these technologies as well as JS/TS Front End experience; Python skills a plus!), & a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
Public Cloud Experience: 2+ years' experience using public cloud providers (AWS, GCP or Azure), and related services such as IAM, EC2, S3, API Gateway.
Containerization and orchestration: Strong experience working in containerized environments like Kubernetes.
Databases: Experience creating highly performant relational and NOSQL database designs, data modelling and use of ORMs, like JPA.
Modern engineering principles and practices: Using Agile ways of working, you build highly automated solutions that require minimal manual effort – through automated testing and CI/CD tools (with IaC such as Terraform and CloudFormation) and DevSecOps principles; you have a real passion for quality, security, and continuous improvement.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communicator who can work with technical and non-technical people and influence stakeholders.
Proactive Leader/Mentor: A self-starter, you thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, consistently maintaining a positive attitude.
