Job Description

About the role:

At CES, we have ambitious targets to keep billions of drink containers out of landfill and transform them into resources that can be used again and again. Our in-house designed SaaS suite and managed services support this mission.

We are looking for an experienced P&C Business Partner to join our business for 15 months to cover a parental leave period; you'll report to the Head of People & Culture, and be part of a small but dynamic team.

This is a true generalist BP role where you will partner closely with managers and teams across the business on all areas of the employee lifecycle, as well as be involved in other P&C projects and activities to ensure we are set up for success as we grow.

You will be pivotal in ensuring all employees are engaged and develop through the organisation while at CES. You will work with the functional leaders to ensure our culture and values are lived throughout our teams and assist with implementing the change management associated with our continued growth to develop high performing teams.

This is an opportunity for you to make a difference - use your knowledge and experience to drive our people practices at CES, enjoy hybrid working and beautiful harbour views, and contribute to the circular economy sector!

The key deliverables of the role:

  • Coach managers through our performance management and development planning processes to ensure development and career progression for employees.
  • Assist in the annual reward and remuneration review process and complete salary benchmarking.
  • Monitor turnover trends, identify flight risks and develop reward and retention strategies.
  • Coach managers in handling disciplinary, grievance and employment relations issues and manage industrial matters.
  • Partner with P&C team on key initiatives and projects.
  • Develop and facilitate learning and development programs across the business.
  • Stay abreast of Employment law developments and ensure business compliance with requirements.
  • Support our employment brand by generating a strong external network eg partnerships with universities and industry associations.
  • Sourcing and selection of talent where required.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:

You are an experienced, qualified HR Business Partner (with at least 3-5 years work experience at business partner level), who is passionate about developing and implementing strategies to engage and develop employees and build high-performing teams.

You also bring:

  • The ability to educate and support line management in the application of the right frameworks and tools, and support the business with adopting new approaches.
  • Experience partnering with different business areas - ideally some experience with IT and/or software development teams as we are a technology business.
  • “Hands on” HR Partnership with proven capability in working across different levels of stakeholder groups in all areas of HR, with a good eye for detail.
  • You thrive on being accountable and have resilience and tenacity within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build rapport and provide support and advice at all levels.
  • Strong people and business acumen with experience in executing people strategies across the business.
  • You are passionate about sustainability and a champion of diversity of thought, style, and perspective.

About CES

Accelerating the transition to a circular economy

We are proud to be an active contributor in the circular economy through container deposit schemes (10c refund for eligible drink containers). We help our scheme partners to recycle close to 10 million drink containers every day, diverting them from landfill into the circular economy.

Our technology and services enable the circular lifecycle of drink containers. We have a large in-house software engineering team using modern technology stacks to develop and support our products. As well as a suite of SaaS products, our range of business services includes accounting, payments, brand & marketing, materials trading, HR, customer service and support.

CES was formed in 2017 as a joint venture between Lion and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and has grown rapidly. We are headquartered in North Sydney, near public transport with beautiful harbour views. Our teams are passionate about our mission to ensure valuable materials are recycled and not wasted. We provide an inclusive culture, hybrid and flexible working and career development to bring the best out in our people.

Originally known as Container Exchange Services, we have rebranded to Circular Economy Systems to recognise our vision to be leaders in the transition to a circular economy.
